Hatikvah
Interactive
As
part of the Israel @ 60 Celebrations, the Education Department of the Jewish Agency
has designed and produced interactive multimedia software to teach Hatikvah, Israel's
National Anthem.
This
project is the outcome of an exciting joint initiative that we have undertaken
in cooperation with Galia Albin, the Israeli entrepreneur. On the evening of Yom
Ha'atzmaut, this will all come together during an Israel Channel 2 TV broadcast,
when we hope to break the world record with Jewish communities around the world
singing Hatikvah live and we invite you to be part of this stupendous event,
and register your participation with us for the Guinness Book of Records.
So
turn on your speakers, and let's do Hatikvah together!
Hatikvah
Interactive is a self-contained educational experience that you can access online,
on the open Internet and at no charge. It is suitable for educators, communities,
adults and guided browsing in schools. In addition to the historical background
to Hatikvah and a professional studio recording of the Israeli National Anthem,
browsers are guided through its lyrics and their meaning at their own pace, aided
by transliterated Hebrew. A major fun feature is an interactive game at three
levels, designed to enhance the learning process and make you feel at home with
Hatikvah. Last but not least in our interactive features, is an electronic keyboard
that has two purposes: to allow browsers to play Hatikvah themselves, and to provide
accompaniment and support for teaching or learning the song independently.
Additional educational
resources are being added to the website to support educators at this time, and
you are invited to browse and pass on this invitation to other educators. Other
language versions are being prepared; translations and transliterations of Hatikvah
are already available in numerous languages for your convenience. The Education
Department's Contact Center / Smart Room is also offering web conferencing and
video conferencing to any educational institutions interested in dedicated in-depth
sessions about Hatikvah so be in touch with us if you are interested in
these opportunities. We also look forward to hearing your input and recommendations
for improvements!
We
would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those in the Jewish Agency
and externally who have worked so hard to bring the Hatikvah Interactive project
together.
