ccording to the Israeli Law of Equal Rights, the State of Israel has a responsibility to ensure that people with disabilities are treated equally. The following listing includes government offices, agencies and nonprofit organizations that provide services for disabled individuals in Israel

Government Offices and Agencies

Bituach Leumi (National Insurance Institute): Provides grant allowances, rehabilitation services, and other services. Branches are located all over the country. For a listing of local branches and information about relevant laws and procedures, see www.btl.gov.il

Misrad HaRevacha (Ministry of Social Affairs):  Provides rehabilitation services geared towards improving the level of functioning, for disabled individuals. Assistance is offered from personal, social, financial and vocational angles. For more information, see www.molsa.gov.il (Hebrew language site).

Misrad HaBriut (Ministry of Health): For people with mental healthcare issues. Provides a medical framework (psychiatric evaluations, hospitalizations and clinical services); a rehabilitation framework (housing, employment, education, social and leisure-time and independent living); and some financial assistance. Misrad HaKlita (Ministry of Absorption): Every new immigrant is entitled to special rights and benefits; individuals with disabilities are no exception, and receive additional financial aid including assistance with rental fees, discounts on certain payments, etc. To determine whether you are eligible for this additional assistance, check the Guide to Services for the Disabled at www.moia.gov.il/macabia/cd/en/health/guide_for_the_disabled.htm.

Note: The Guide to Services for the Disabled appears both online and in print (as a purple booklet). It summarizes government services for the disabled. The second part of the booklet includes a partial listing of national organizations that provide services to the disabled and their families. Some of the phone numbers that are listed in the booklet are outdated. Additional information is listed at www.moia.gov.il/english/index_en.asp.
