Finding
Schools for Your Children: An Introduction If you are making Aliyah with
children, the successful absorption (Klitah) of your children into the school
system plays a pivtol role in the overall positive Aliyah and Klitah experience
for the entire family. This site is designed to facilitate your family's
successful Aliyah by helping you research appropriate school options for your
children. You can search for information about individual schools throughout the
country, find educational consultants (including consultants for special education),
read articles about the various school systems in Israel, and download a school
vocabulary list and a list of questions to ask at a school interview. All of these
resources will help to empower you to identify the correct school(s) for your
child(ren). Note: This site only lists schools with a minimum of 10% English
speakers. Certain exceptions were made to this rule, but for practical reasons,
we did not include every school in the country that an Oleh can attend. How
To Search for a School When searching the database for information about
schools, you have several options: Neighborhood: Once you have identified
your community of choice, you can globally search all the schools in that area.
This will give you a bird's eye view of all the options that are available for
your entire family. Grade: 1-6, 7-12, 9-12 Gender: boys, girls, co-ed, coed
separate (this will have a note to tell you at what grade they separate, if they
are in the same building, but different floors, or same campus two separate buildings) Religious
affiliation: you will be able to choose from the following options: Mamlachti:
public secular (will also include the Tali conservative Judaism tack) Mamlachti
Dati: public religious Mamlachti Dati Torani: public religious with a strong
emphasis on religious studies Chardal: Charedi dati Leumi-combines charedi
philosophy, with full secular studies program Charedi: right-wing Orthodox
Note regarding pre-nursery / nursery / kindergarten: Given that these are
numerous and bound by residence, and registration is solely through the municipality
(Iriyah), we have not listed preschool options here unless they are part an elementary
school system . Most pre-formal education schools are not situated on the campus
of an elementary school. There are many private options to send your child to,
and these can be located by writing to the community list of that city and asking
for suggestions. Click here for a listing of community email lists. If
you have questions or comments about this school information please email Schools@nbn.org.il
